Meditating

Six days ago I started meditating.  I read the first section of the book, 8 Minute Meditation by Victor Davich and off I went to find a quiet place in my home to start something new.  So far so good.

The book says to make it a daily routine, same time and place everyday.  Just like brushing your teeth is something you do every morning in your bathroom when you wake up.  If you just tell yourself you will do it sometime during the day, chances are the kids, errands, dinner, homework, laundry, ... will take over and you won't get to it.  Making it a routine is the reason I've been successful with meditating.  I wake up 10 minutes earlier to meditate before the kids get up for school.  The house is quiet and it is a great way to start my day.

Try it and let me know how you make out.  It does calm your mind and give you an overall sense of peace and clarity.

I might actually be able to do this!

Meditating has been part of my list of goals every year for the past 5 years now. I start and do it for a few days and eventually just give up. I think because I don't really know what i'm doing and then let's face it - who has the time? I'm very interested in reading this book because 8 minutes seems doable AND I like how you follow what he says...

I feel like this is the year when I finally start... I've been reminded over and over again to slow down and be present. Meditation I know will help me...

Thanks Sandra!

It's the best thing you can do

Hi all,

I've been meditating for 5 years, yes some off and and on, and nothing keeps me more sane and balanced. I discovered it via Jon Kabbatt Zin's book "Full Catastrophe Living." Great book with three CDs that cover meditation, guided body scan (so relaxing) and an intro to Yoga.

Ommmmmmmmm :-)
