The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

I saw her speak at Indigo last month.   I'm half-way through the book and really enjoying it so far.  For me, my favourite part so far was when she talks about "Be Gretchen" meaning that we often do things or buy things because it's who we think we should be or want to be, but it's not really who we are.  We can control what we do, but we can't control what we like to do.

Just checked it out

I just checked it out on Amazon and it looks really good. Thanks for sharing...

This testimonial sold me:

"A cross between the Dalai Lama’s The Art of Happiness and Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love."

Can't beat that! I'm in! :-)

Just got it and started

Just got it and started reading it. I'm quite enjoying it so far... Will keep you posted...

I read the book during March

I read the book during March Break and I LOVED it (thank you Suzanne for recommending it). I couldn't put it down, it was exactly what I needed. I realized how much I need some kind of structure and a check list to keep me moving forward. At the beginning of this year I didn't really want to set specific goals so I didn't make my usual list of tanglible things I wanted to accomplish. Instead I took a different approach of taking it day by day and letting things happen. The problem with this is that nothing happened. I've been feeling discouraged and frustrated because I'm not focusing on the things that bring me pleasure. I had no focus and I was drifting day to day. I lacked motivation and passion. Reading The Happiness Project was the boost I needed to recharge again. I have my April Resolutions right here in front of me and I'm excited to start checking them off. My focus this month is energy which I desperately need. I'll let you how I make out!
