Globe and Mail article
I just read an article in The Globe and Mail (Nov.12 / Life Section) which confirms what most of us already know; music affects our exercise performance. The key is to listen to the right kind of music for the right type of exercise. There is a list of suggestions which I thought would be fun to share as I'm always looking for new songs to inspire me on the treadmill. The music was compiled by Dr. Costas Karageorghis of Brunel University in Britain. It lists music by genre and each category goes from low intensity to high intensity workouts.

Bruuuuuuuuce
I totally agree about music being inspirational and powerful. When I first moved to New York City, I was pretty intimidated by the whole scene. I was there to further my music career at the time. I was subletting an apartment. The owners had a copy of Bruce Springsteens "Born to Run" album. Every morning I would put on the title song to get me pumped. I timed it so that I closed the front door while Bruce was still singing "Baby, we were born to run" in the last chorus. I tell you, I walked out the door and down the street like I owned the town. It's a great memory. And I still use music to this day to change my mood, give me strength and help me feel invincible. My current favorite? Don't laugh. Miley Cyrus "The Climb." I know, I am too old for that. I even got out the guitar and learned it. Now I sing it. I wonder how my condo neighbors feel about that???
I'm sure they love it!
I love that song also. The words are very inspirational. My spin instructor plays it during our spin classes and it gets be more pumped up and then any other songs... I think we can all listen to the words carefully and live by them...
